Drawing from 1860s letters, diaries and newspaper accounts, Stephen Osman will present the stories of Minnesota’s Civil War soldiers, former Confederate prisoners, and Dakota families who spent time at Fort Snelling during the Civil War. This material will be published next spring by the Ramsey County Historical Society in a book Stephen is writing. Mr. Osman managed Historic Fort Snelling for over 30 years and actively researches, speaks and writes about Minnesota’s role in the Civil War and the US/Dakota War of 1862.
