After their Dakota mother’s death in 2001, sisters Betty Smith and Shirley Greising decided to learn about their Dakota heritage which they never knew as children. Their mother was reluctant to talk about her Dakota family and way of life due to her experiences in an Indian boarding school.
Hear about the sisters’ 16-year journey that continues to lead them to learn about Dakota history and meet new Dakota relatives and Elders.
