Mission Sunday is an annual event where the descendants of both the early Dakota Christians and the first missionaries to the Dakota, as well as other interested people, gather together. There will be a church service at 10:30 am, a potluck lunch at noon, and an afternoon program at about 1:00 pm. The church service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Clifford Canku, who will also give a presentation in the afternoon about The Dakota Prisoner of War Letters: Dakota Kaaskapi Okicize Wowapi, the book he co-authored with Michael Simon. The Mission site is located at the junction of Chippewa County Hwy. 13 and County Rd. 32, six miles north of Montevideo, Minnesota.
