The house is open on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. Guided tours of the house are available on Sunday afternoons. Check the calendar for scheduled events and tour times.

Hands-on activities for all ages are held one Sunday afternoon per month (typically the first Sunday), including:

- Candle dipping
- Maple Sugaring
- Corn husk doll making
- Dakota language lessons and games
- Prairie walks
- Horn carving
- Mini tipi construction
Events and Activities

Attend Annual Events
John Philips Sousa Memorial Band Concert and Ice Cream Social
Enjoy a toe-tapping outdoor concert on the south lawn of the Gideon and Agnes Pond House. Directed by Mr. Scott Crosbie, the Sousa Band has been entertaining local audiences for forty years. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. See event page.
Dakota Language Camp
Learn the Dakota language through Dakota games, crafts, songs, dancing, foods and nature walks through the beautiful trails at Pond-Dakota Mission Park. Students grades K-6 and their families are welcome. For more information, see the event page, or visit the City of Bloomington website.
River Rendezvous Public Event
Get a taste of the mid-19th century lives of Native Americans, fur traders and settlers at this living history event. Meet re-enactors demonstrating different lifestyles, historical crafts, and occupations, such as hand-dipped candle making, tin smithing, farming, and more.
